The Aurora National Stream travel as a group. All coaches, athletes, and chaperones travel and stay together whenever possible. Travel is booked via the National Stream Travel Coordinator in consultation with the Head Coach. Cost, Safety, and comfort for the athletes is top priority. Travel costs are added to monthly Program fees for the National Stream. Reconciliation of the travel is completed at the end of June.
Currently, Aurora Synchro does not cover chaperone airfare.
Chaperones must have completed the Respect in Sport for Parents as well as the Enhanced Police Information Check.
Chaperoning counts toward a member's volunteer commitment at the rate of two hours per day, including travel days. After you complete the chaperoning, you will automatically be credited with the appropriate number of volunteer hours for that trip.
Chaperones are only required for the national stream.
The cost of accommodation and food for chaperones is divided among the swimmers attending the meet. This policy does not include camps. This policy also does not include optional meets that a team chooses to attend, for which arrangements and budgets are established by parents involved with the event.
Parents who are not chaperoning are welcome to travel along on a trip but must pay their own expenses: food, accommodations, and travel (airfare, a portion of the cost of renting a bus, and so on). Please contact the travel co-ordinator for information on accommodations for non-chaperoning parents. Bear in mind that the chaperone, not the parent, is in charge of the children for the duration of the trip.
